“I want to make a difference for students that immigrated to the US that currently feel the way I once did. I'm also excited to be a Millennium Fellow to work alongside like-minded students with their own unique projects!”

Millennium Fellowship Project: Higher Education and Global Engagement in Latino Communities

My goal for this project is to lead an intensive initiative in improving access to higher education in Hispanic and immigrant schools. A lack of education for these communities limits their potential, breeds ignorance, and hinders their ability to have a voice in national concerns. With this project, I want to advocate for the importance of civic education, provide resources to simplify the enigmatic higher education process and emphasize planning for a future in which they are empowered. The primary metric for the project will be a number of school presentations in different elementary, middle, and high schools with a student body that is over fifty percent Hispanic. The goal is to reach 15 schools with over 20 presentations in different classrooms, school events, and more.
