ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2019
United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. In the three months the application was open in 2019, over 7,000 young leaders applied to join the Class of 2019 on 1,209 campuses across 135 nations. 69 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 1,092 Millennium Fellows. The Class of 2019 is bold, innovative, and inclusive. Millennium Fellows' Projects are projected to positively impact the lives of over 978,400 people worldwide this year.
“I'm very excited and honoured to be a Millenium Fellow this year because it gives me the opportunity to learn how to be a better leader. It also gives me the opportunity to impact my community positively. I believe in making life easier for people because life is already hard as it is and that is why I chose my work.”
Millennium Fellowship Project: Project PAD
Project PAD is a small scale initiative that provides sanitary pads and toilet paper to all public bathrooms within my University campus free of charge. It was born out of an observation that many female students miss lectures due to "period emergencies" and our goal is to make sure that females can participate actively in lectures regardless of the "period emergency".
We hope to fit at least one public bathroom in each lecture building within the campus starting from the medical school before the year runs out and to also set up a fundraiser to keep the system running.
