United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. In the three months the application was open in 2019, over 7,000 young leaders applied to join the Class of 2019 on 1,209 campuses across 135 nations. 69 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 1,092 Millennium Fellows. The Class of 2019 is bold, innovative, and inclusive. Millennium Fellows' Projects are projected to positively impact the lives of over 978,400 people worldwide this year.
“Being a Millennium Fellow got me thrilled, being part of a group of young leaders that wants to impact positively on our communities it’s a privilege. I see this as a opportunity to prove that a group of decided people can improve their society and also inspire other to do the same. I’m excited of being part of that group of leaders that are willing to give it all for a change. The future it’s in our hands and we can make it better. We can be the ones that make the difference. We want to make it happen.”
Millennium Fellowship Project: Social Inclusion
Our project consists of raising awareness in our society towards people with different disabilities through campaigns on several social media platforms, conferences, activities, and workshops. All these activities will be made in public spaces where the community can participate and experience first hand what it is like to live in the shoes of people with disabilities. Because we are focusing on the Sustainable Development Goal number 10: Reducing inequalities we believe that the previous propositions of activities will result in creating empathy and awareness in the community towards people with these conditions. At the end of the month of events, we will challenge a local business to make their establishment more inclusive like having employees with disabilities, having the menu in braille or having accessible entrances.
