ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2019
United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. In the three months the application was open in 2019, over 7,000 young leaders applied to join the Class of 2019 on 1,209 campuses across 135 nations. 69 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 1,092 Millennium Fellows. The Class of 2019 is bold, innovative, and inclusive. Millennium Fellows' Projects are projected to positively impact the lives of over 978,400 people worldwide this year.
“I am grateful to be selected as a Millennium Fellow and to be affiliated with the UNAI for the opportunity to make a positive impact within our community and beyond while challenging ourselves as leaders. I am most excited about working with my peers on campus and all across the world to be an inspiration to other individuals on taking action on subjects or experiences that concern them within their communities and beyond. Thankfully this opportunity provides a platform to connect with individuals across the world that work together with a common goal in mind, to make a positive impact.”
Millennium Fellowship Project: LIFE Skills Initiative
The objective of our project is to reach out to Title I high schools in the Charlotte Mecklenburg county area and give students access to resources they can use to learn helpful life skills. These include lifestyle, interpersonal, financial, and educational skills, which make up the acronym LIFE for our project name. We want to give them information about these areas so they can be better equipped to handle their futures, whether they take the college path or getting a job straight out of high school. There are roughly 8,836 total kids attending these 7 Title I schools, and it is projected that by our program 2,000-4,999 students will benefit from our program. We hope that by giving them these tools, they’ll be able to break the poverty cycle they experience and give themselves and their children better lives.
