ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2019
United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. In the three months the application was open in 2019, over 7,000 young leaders applied to join the Class of 2019 on 1,209 campuses across 135 nations. 69 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 1,092 Millennium Fellows. The Class of 2019 is bold, innovative, and inclusive. Millennium Fellows' Projects are projected to positively impact the lives of over 978,400 people worldwide this year.
“Upon seeing my name as part of the selected Millennium Fellows, goosebumps ran through my body system spontaneously as my joy could not be tamed and I became exhilarated. Growing up in one of the most corrupt and perverted communities in Lagos, Nigeria where social vices, vandalism and human rights violations are on the rise made me realised that countless of upcoming youth would fall victim of such expositions. This prompted me towards service to humanity in me. Sequel to numerous volunteering, projects implementations, I've gotten to realise that "a goal with no relevance of service to humanity is meaningless.”
Millennium Fellowship Project: Sustainable Development Advocates (SDA)
SDA UNILAG (Sustainable Development Advocates, University of Lagos) is an organization that aims at promoting and teaching the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within and outside the campus by partnering with organizations that are implementing the SDGs consciously or unconsciously. The SDGs awareness program being our major program seeks to combat people's ignorance of the SDGs. Between August and November 2020, about 8000 people will get enlightened about the SDGs. They will also be sensitized on the urgent need for them to actively play a part in the achievement of these 17 global goals.
