Millennium Fellowship Project

Mentors Network is a student initiative with a mission to inspire and guide students from underprivileged and challenging backgrounds to unleash their full potential. Volunteer mentors spend two to three hours a week engaging with their mentees and helping them revise topics not well grasped in class. Some of the goals that they plan to achieve within the August-November time frame include: Reduce school absenteeism among students at Ayim primary/junior high school, Improve student academic performance at Ayim primary/junior high school, Donate reading materials to students of Ayim primary/junior high schools, Assist students to prepare adequately for their final junior high school exam.

About the Millennium Fellow

Davy Atanga is a first-generation university student from Mirigu, northern Ghana. Having successfully completed high school in 2013, Davy enrolled at Ashesi University two years later to read electrical engineering, thanks to a generous scholarship from the MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program. A humanitarian at heart, Davy has a strong conviction that there is a need for all humans to have access to a dignified life void of the things that bring pain and suffering such as poverty. Davy has severally volunteered and participated in undertaking aimed towards improving society and is currently volunteering with Mentors Network, a mentorship program aimed at guiding young students to achieve reach their full potential in life. Selected to attend the Clinton Global Initiative conference 2018, Davy is working on a project that seeks to combat poverty and unemployment among women in his hometown, Mirigu.
