I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because this is a great opportunity to not only assist my fellow Jarvis students but a nation as a whole with the diabetes health initiatives. I do the work that I do because I enjoy helping people and I know what it’s like to lose somebody with diabetes.

Millennium Fellowship Project

The Jarvis Diabetes Awareness Campaign uses Diabetes Education as a building-block to healthier communities by raising consciousness to prevent chronic disease and ensure predisposed demographic groups know the risk factors and warning signs. Working together in the community enables timely diagnoses and access to professional care by paying closer attention to prevention and consistently making small behavioral changes that have a big impact, like more nutritious food choices or glycemic trade-offs for junk food. Millennium Fellows at Jarvis Christian College hope to accomplish the measurable goal of reaching 1,000 to 2,000 East Texas youth ages 15 to 22.
