UNITED NATIONS ACADEMIC IMPACT AND MCN PROUDLY PRESENT AVINA I NAQVI, A MILLENNIUM FELLOW FOR THE CLASS OF 2020.

Arizona State University | Arizona, United States | Advancing SDG 1 & UNAI 1

" I am extremely passionate about providing high-quality, universal healthcare. I believe that healthcare is a human right entitled to anyone regardless of their race, religion, gender or socioeconomic background. It is my hope that in the future we will be able to alleviate health disparities between developing and developed nations. The idea of death due to childbirth or the rising rate of (the once-eradicated) polio incidents will become far-fetched. When envisioning the future of healthcare, I hope to see a world where we are able to ensure healthy lives for all and promote the well-being and sustainability at all ages. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: SHOW What Matters

The project will be focusing on providing health awareness to the local homeless population in
downtown Phoenix in collaboration with the Student Health Outreach for Wellness (SHOW), a
tri-university organization dedicated to improving primary care access among vulnerable
populations. The goal will be to implement weekly health-oriented programs to address
identified needs, offering opportunity for clients at the Human Service Campus to participate in
programmed events which focus on the development of personal growth and improved
awareness of solutions to the issues this population is directly connected to, such as
inaccessibility to healthcare. These weekly programs will be collaboratively led by different
interdisciplinary preceptors; Some of them are a part of vast disciplines such as
Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Social Work, Nutrition, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Speech
Pathology, Oncology, and Nursing.
