UNITED NATIONS ACADEMIC IMPACT AND MCN PROUDLY PRESENT MASA HADDAD, A MILLENNIUM FELLOW FOR THE CLASS OF 2020.
Cornell University | New York, United States | Advancing SDG 5 & UNAI 6
" I am so thrilled to be a Millennium Fellow, to be given the opportunity to work with like-minded peers, be a better global citizen and accomplish my project goals to advance the status of women in Jordan. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: معاكي (Ma'aki)
In the Arabic language, معاكي means (we) are with you, and since the Arabic language is gendered, 'ou' refers to the female. The Project aims to raise awareness on domestic violence issues in Jordan on Cornell's campus. It includes launching multiple fundraisers that would benefit nonprofits that target domestic violence issues in Jordan.
About the Millennium Fellow
Masa Haddad is a senior at Cornell University majoring in Policy Analysis and Management and minoring in Near Eastern Studies. Masa grew up in Amman, Jordan. On campus, she is an active voice for marginalized communities on the Student Assembly, and is the president of the Arab Student Association. She is passionate about women's rights advocacy in the Middle East, pursuing a career in women empowerment. When she studies women's status, she searches for patterns and gradually peels off layers until she finds the root causes of the misogynistic values that her society is built on, and conquers them.
