" I am super excited to be a part of the Millennium Fellowship. I think that this will give me the opportunity to grow my perspective about the world around me and will support me as I try to make meaningful change in the world around me. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Atlanta Transit Desert Mapping
A transit desert is a location that has unreliable public transportation for the people that live there. For instance, if a person lives miles away from the nearest train station/bus stop and are unable to get to work reliably, they live in a transit desert. The reason that this is important is because people that live in these deserts are unable to get a job that they can reliably travel to, and thus they can miss considerable needed income to live. A goal that this project hopes to achieve is to measure the quality of transit access in and around the city of Atlanta and find a way to deliver this information to public officials and the people of Atlanta.
