ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2020

United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. In the three months the application was open in 2020, 15,159 young leaders applied to join the Class of 2020 on 1,458 campuses across 135 nations.  80 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 1,000+ Millennium Fellows.  The Class of 2020 is bold, innovative, and inclusive.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Youth and Leadership Renaissance

The "Youth and Leadership Renaissance" is a project which is geared towards bringing youths to the limelight of the act of leadership at local, national and international levels. It serves to target the development of youths in their different fields of discipline to take up leadership responsibilities and will involve community services as volunteers, seminars and workshop. The aim is divided into 3 broad aspects:

1. Recruitment of youths who have shown high levels of responsibility in their societies and willing to do more.
2. Workshop trainings and excursion for these youths by top renowned government officials who have made positive impacts in the society and led a legacy.
3. Internship programs and sponsorship/ employment opportunities

The project's impact will be measured by the number of successful participants at each leadership workshop who earn their places for internship in the final interview.

About the Millennium Fellow

Oku Princeson Bassey is a 400Level Medical student at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun state, Nigeria. Oku describes himseld as hard working, diligent and responsible. Besides his focus on academics, Oku takes particular interest in service to the youth and community at large which has led to serving in multiple capacities including:

1. President of the National Association of Akwa Ibom State Students (NAAKISS) OAU chapter (till date).
2. Deputy Speaker of the OAU Medical Students Parliament (till date).
