ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2020
United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. In the three months the application was open in 2020, 15,159 young leaders applied to join the Class of 2020 on 1,458 campuses across 135 nations. 80 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 1,000+ Millennium Fellows. The Class of 2020 is bold, innovative, and inclusive.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Zero-waste from home
This project originated from Alena's interest in reducing waste production by individuals and making it easy and suitable for everyone while promoting sustainability. It is undeniable that nowadays it is crucial to raise awareness about the importance of involvement in reducing the amount of waste produced daily due to the detrimental affect it has on the environment and well-being of the population. The main goal of this project is to educate people about the importance of being aware of how our daily product consumption (food, clothing, everyday purchases, etc.) affects the environment as well as present various ways of reducing the impact on the environment from home. During this project social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook will be used to convey the information. Moreover, local businesses and nonprofit organizations dedicated to sustainability efforts will be involved to promote a sustainable form of living.
About the Millennium Fellow
Alena Romanova is a freshman at Pace University majoring in biology. She is interested in doing research triggering ecological issues as well as promoting sustainable consumption. Coming from a foreign background, she is keen on learning about science from a world-wide view in order to broaden up her horizons and become a well-rounded specialist.
