Millennium Fellowship Project: United Health
United Health is a project project geared towards helping women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community acquire resources they need for healthcare. There are many disparities in healthcare between men, women (especially women of color), and the LGBTQIA+ community as often health issues for women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community are often not addressed adequately. With this project, the team hopes to establish a resource center for women and LGBTQIA+ individuals seeking assistance in health related issues.
The cohort aims to achieve these goals during the Millennium Fellowship:
1. Research options for seeking medical and mental health assistance in the greater Pittsburgh area for members of marginalized communties.
2. Investigate options for medical insurance if needed and strive to provide recommendations of medical professionals that will provide unbiased medical practices/
3. Help raise funds for individuals in marginalized communities to help contribute to their healthcare through fundraisers and contacting sponsors to contribute to our cause.
4. Make a website and collaborate with other university organizations and organizations in the Greater Pittsburgh Area to advocate for equality of healthcare and be able to provide resources for these underrepresented groups of people.
