University for Development Studies | Accra, Ghana | Advancing SDG 4 & UNAI 3

" I am passionate about the smiles seen on humanity hence my excitement to be a part of the Millennium Fellowship class of 2020. Once I learnt that becoming a CEO of a great company is wonderful and great but it's doesn't mean you have lived until you have given someone a reason to live and not give up in life. My passion is to put smiles on the faces of many especially people less associated with and privilege in society. This is an opportunity I'm so excited about knowing i will meet like minded individuals and youngsters with similar passions so as to work efficiently together to be a part of people impacting humanity positively. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Equitable Education; Dyslexic Included
Dyslexia, a neurological disorder characterised by difficult in reading and identifying words is one of the major issues challenging the educational system in the world most especially Africa and particularly Ghana. Dyslexia development is the most common learning disability and affects somewhere between 5-10% of the population according to the World Health Organisation. The project, equitable education for dyslexic students if taken into consideration within the educational system will fulfil the sustainable development goal 4 agenda which aims at ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
This project is borne out from a compassionate heart. I am looking forward to launching a campaign to sensitise and create awareness on the condition to parents, students and teachers. Moving forward I seek to create a database of dyslexic students so as to assist school authorities and policy makers for appropriate interventions for such individuals. Finally but not the least a proposal for intervention will be written to the ministry of education to for a national policy which takes pupil with such condition into consideration such as providing them with special attention.
