" Growing up as a young teen, I had always have a strong desire to serve humanity, but like most youth, I was faced with indecision of where to start from. Instead of sitting and being confused, I decided to make a move. Every time I look around, I see young people who need to be motivated in doing the right things for the sake of growth and development, I see young people who if not mentored properly will be a huge liability to the community and wish i could tell them that amazing things happens when you start following your instincts, i see pervasive abandonment of the members of the family by others; the parents clearly appear to have given up on their responsibilities towards their children, I see a community that needs innovative young people, I see a land that relies heavily on young people for its growth and development. PREVENTING PREVALENCE OF SUICIDAL BEHAVIOUR is a distinctively passionate and specialized experience health and well being social/mental care group that helps people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone. The Fellowship is a great opportunity for me to enhance my leadership skills as well as the vast network that this Fellowship offers, such as being able to learn from and interact with different people of the same agenda. It will be a wake up call to buckle up and fire up! It is a long awaited opportunity to work with Individuals around the world with like vision and equal passion. It also serves as an avenue for me to hone my leadership skills. I look forward to this opportunity, being an individual who would cause a stir for change in the entire Globe. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Health above all
Project Health for all seeks to address health issues beginning first in both University of Nigeria campuses (UNN and UNEC). This initative seeks to enlighten the students and the public on the need to donate blood voluntarily. It also seeks to build blood banks in both campuses and research on how to get solutions to power issues which is a challenge in building blood banks.
In addition, students at the University of Nigeria Nsukka and Enugu campuses are entitled to free medical treatment because of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). However, one needs to go through rigorous processes before one can access this free medical treatment. As a result of this, many students have resulted to self medication which can lead to drug abuse. Project health for all seeks to also address this problem by making the process easier. For decades, the process have been done manually. This had to change because of the ever growing population of students as well as advancement in Technology. Manual registration is no longer feasible. The Millennium Fellows at University of Nigeria want to make this process easier by introducing Technology and innovation in this process by digitalizing the process of enrolling to health insurance.
