" Being part of the Millennium Fellowship is not just a title but it is being a part of a large community which works for a social cause and this will lead to a better future for all of us collectively. The zeal to bring change in our surroundings and society motivates me to work for the cause. It might be just a small step for me but one should remember that each Inch counts and in future this small step is going to bring a smile on million of faces.
The Millennium Fellowship will help me to further explore more skills and sharpen them such that it will help me and my team grow in a smarter way. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Kalam Ko Salam
In India, at least 35 million children aged 6 - 14 years do not attend school. 53% of girls in the age group of 5 to 9 years are illiterate. The main reasons for these high numbers are lack of resources and poverty. Our initiative, ‘Kalam Ko Salam’ aims at empowering underprivileged children by providing quality guidance, mentoring, and education to them at zero cost. We combine the conventional modes of teaching along with extracurricular activities. Weekly visits are conducted to the Shubhakshika Open Shelter prior to teaching students of class 3rd, 5th, and 8th. We also aim at creating youth leaders from college graduates, as they commit to their responsibilities as mentors and take care of a child’s education.
