" Not caring and being ignorant towards the lack of education in underprivileged class is a huge setback for humanity. Being able to understand how to uplift the less fortunate is a crucial aspect of one's life. I am honoured to be a Millennium Fellow for the class of 2021. I believe that the fellowship will help me achieve my vision of improving the lives of animals around us. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to interact with young leaders all over the world. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Kalam Ko Salam

In India, at least 35 million children aged 6 - 14 years do not attend school. 53% of girls in the age group of 5 to 9 years are illiterate. The main reasons for these high numbers are lack of resources and poverty. Our initiative, ‘Kalam Ko Salam’ aims at empowering underprivileged children by providing quality guidance, mentoring, and education to them at zero cost. We combine the conventional modes of teaching along with extracurricular activities. Weekly visits are conducted to the Shubhakshika Open Shelter prior to teaching students of class 3rd, 5th, and 8th. We also aim at creating youth leaders from college graduates, as they commit to their responsibilities as mentors and take care of a child’s education.
