" The absolute necessity and profound power of groundwork was something I recognised only after I directly started engaging in it. The Millennium Fellowship is going to be a significant opportunity for me, in terms of allowing me to nurture both my social impact leadership and professional skills, as well as connect more powerfully with my own understanding of empathy and inclusivity, values I have always carried within herself. I am excited to engage with new perspective and figure out better ways to increase my participation in contributing to the SDGs in a more conducive way. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Sex Education for All (SEFA)

Sex Education For All (SEFA): which focuses on UN Sustainable Development Goal 4: Inclusive and Equitable Quality Education in close alignment with the United Nations Academic Impact: Principle 6 furthering a commitment to encouraging global citizenship through education. We have reached out to adolescents from 9-12th standard in High Schools across India, equipping them with sex education and legal requisites that a child their age should be aware of. From understanding consent, to having the tools to deal with cyber harassment, or making benefits of the mental health act, SEFA aspires to inspire as many students as possible. With as many as 30 people from NUJS on board, Tushmi Udyalak as the Founder, Sushovan Patnaik as the co-founder are also heading the cohort as campus ambassadors of NUJS. We aim to equip the young adults at NUJS with social impact leadership training and skills as provided by UN MCN and UNAI. Social media harassment (IT Act and other related statutes), grooming (minors + consent), IPC Provisions (Outrage of Modesty, Voyeurism, etc.), POCSO and Sex Education topics like STI, pregnancy test, birth control etc have been covered via a Primer by us law-students in this project.

About the Millennium Fellow

Khushi Joshi is a law student in India who deeply believes in the power of humility, empathy, and inclusivity and always attempts to figure out ways in which she can manifest these values and consistently seeks to connect herself with intrinsic social affairs that require serious attention, not merely within, but also beyond university. She was born in Karnataka, India and has lived in 10 states in her lifetime of 19 years and deeply believes that all people across borders are intrinsically the same. This belief and drive has led her to be deeply involved in projects concerning equality throughout high school and university, few of which she is now leading. Khushi aspires to be someone who fights for inclusivity and equality all her life, and wishes she continues to believe in the power of empathy and finds professional avenues to help continue her advocacies.
