" Relentless effort and the will to learn something new whenever I get the chance are the abilities that drive me and my work. Being a Millennium Fellow with help me with these skills as well as in developing new ones. My work as Millennium Fellow will have an impact at core of the society and looks to help and uplift the most harrassed section of Indian society. Realising UNAI Principles and SDGs will the work that my project tend to undertake more tangible. I am excited to work with my other Fellows and put relentess effort into my project and harnessing some lifetime skills, that will help me with having a long term impact. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Redefining Education Amidst Diversity
Redefining Education Amidst Diversity is a multi-pronged programme targeted at improving the quality of life in rural India wherein the benefits of schemes are slow to reach and farfetched. The project has the following parts: (1) Giving Wings to Potential: Providing gender equal education and sensitization of people specially women for the restrictive constructs of like menses etc. The aim is to create awareness about medical, physical and emotional health and hygiene of these girls. (2) Legal Awareness: A lot of people do not know about the laws which affect them in their daily lives. The Programme project aims at making people aware of their rights and duties in a lucid way. (3) Stimulating Education in Environmental-Farming Discourses (S.E.E.D.): The project aims to act as a medium for evaluating and sharing best farming practices/information across the country to inspire a spirit of scientific and climate-conscious temperament within farmers.
About the Millennium Fellow
Vaibhav Garg is a young, enthusiastic and competitive law student. He was born in Dabawali, Haryana, currently resides in Sriganganagar, Rajastha and is pursuing law at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala. His curiosity to read and learn about social structure of India has developed his keen interest to study in the field of law. It excites him to gain an understanding of influence of casteism in the socio-economic development of India. Further, how the social system has evolved and affecting the current situation of Indian democracy. Thereafter, he yearns to be an accompalished lawyer in a reputed firm and also work towards upliftment of women in society with the professional competency that he shall gain.
