Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Kalvi
Project Kalvi, meaning "Education" in Tamil, is a transformative initiative aimed at empowering high school students from low-income backgrounds around Chennai. These students often face a significant barrier due to the lack of accessible information on career opportunities and educational pathways. Our mission is to bridge this gap by bringing essential information directly to them.
Our approach is to conduct interactive seminars in government schools situated in more rural areas. These sessions are not just about presenting options; they are about sparking possibilities. We delve into the myriad of career paths these young minds can embark on, illuminating the journey ahead with practical and attainable steps. Each seminar is thoughtfully planned in collaboration with school authorities to ensure it resonates with the students’ needs and aspirations.
Beyond these seminars, we provide a tangible lifeline - a carefully compiled resource that includes a comprehensive list of scholarships and educational opportunities. This guide serves as a beacon, helping students navigate through their options, many of which they might never have encountered otherwise.
Our engagements with the students go beyond the conventional lecture format. We dedicate time for a meaningful dialogue where students can voice their questions and concerns, ensuring they leave the session feeling heard and empowered. As we conclude our visit, we leave behind more than just information; we leave a resource that continues to guide and inspire.
