" I am deeply passionate about creating sustainable solutions for our planet, particularly in addressing the plastic waste crisis. I believe that with innovative approaches and collective effort, we can transform environmental challenges into opportunities for positive change. Project Aarosh is my way of contributing to a future where waste becomes a resource, and I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it allows me to amplify this mission, collaborate with like-minded individuals, and drive impactful action on a global scale "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Aarosh
Managing the colossal amount of plastic waste generated every day is a crucial task, as its mismanagement leads to the deterioration of ecosystems. Inspired by this urgent environmental concern, we established Project Aarosh with a vision to combat the plastic crisis while contributing to sustainability.
At Aarosh, our primary focus is on creating high-value, marketable products from plastic waste. Every year, humanity produces around 350 million tonnes of plastic, much of which ends up in landfills which can take up to 1,000 years to decompose, releasing potentially toxic substances into soil and water. Project Aarosh seeks to contribute to this mission by emphasizing grassroots solutions like upcycling plastic waste, encouraging household behavior changes, and building climate-adapted green ecosystems.
Through Aarosh, we aim to address the plastic problem while building resilience in ecosystems by promoting sustainability and innovative reuse. By transforming plastic waste into durable, eco-friendly products, we not only tackle pollution but also inspire actionable change for a better future.
About the Millennium Fellow
Divyam Raheja is one of the founding members of Project Aarosh, a pioneering initiative focused on combating the plastic waste crisis by transforming it into Ecobricks, which are then used to create durable, high-quality products. The project not only addresses the environmental impact of plastic waste but also contributes to tackling the global climate crisis.
