" I strive to help students navigate academic and personal hurdles by fostering resilience, well-being, and a sense of belonging. By addressing systemic challenges and tailoring support to diverse needs, I aim to equip learners for lifelong growth. The Millennium Fellowship offers a unique platform to amplify this impact, connect with like-minded change makers, and align my projects with the UNAI principles and SDGs for a more equitable and inspired future. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Naqsh

Project Naqsh is a campus-based initiative committed to fostering inclusion and accessibility by integrating Indian Sign Language (ISL) into the campus culture. Aligned with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), the project aims to create a community grounded in empathy and communication equity. It encourages students, faculty, and staff to view sign language as a bridge rather than a barrier. True to its name, Project Naqsh seeks to leave a lasting mark on how our campus connects and communicates. Between August to December 2025, the project will host at least two interactive sign language workshops to equip participants with practical skills, develop both digital and print starter guides to reach over 3,000 community members, and train at least 20 student volunteers as peer accessibility ambassadors. Through workshops, peer-led sessions, and dynamic campaigns, Project Naqsh will cultivate a more inclusive and connected campus environment.

About the Millennium Fellow

Aarushi Verma is a fourth-year student at Ashoka University, pursuing History and International Relations with a minor in Political Science. She studies the origins and escalation of wars, focusing on how culture and ethics influence decision-making that leads to inter-regional conflict. Currently serving as both a Resident Assistant and a Teaching Assistant, she leads community initiatives, mentors peers, and actively engages in conflict resolution. Aarushi thrives in spaces that demand both leadership and empathy. She aims to translate her research on conflict-affected regions into practical solutions that address the roots of conflict and foster cross-regional collaboration.
