UNITED NATIONS ACADEMIC IMPACT AND MCN PROUDLY PRESENT NASHITA SHAHID, A MILLENNIUM FELLOW FOR THE CLASS OF 2025.
Bangladesh University of Professionals | Dhaka, Bangladesh | Advancing SDG 4, SDG 13 & UNAI 3

" I do the work I do because environmental education is scarce in my country, which is one reason environmental protection and climate action are often overlooked. The situation is, however, changing, and I’d like to contribute to it. I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because, while I believe my initiative can make an impact, I currently lack the mentorship and guidance needed to tailor the content according to my audience. The Fellowship will give me the opportunity to connect with individuals who also want to create change. The insights I gain from mentors and Millennium Fellows will help me contribute meaningfully to multiple SDGs, particularly those related to the environment and quality education. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Sustainpedia
Sustainpedia is a monthly booklet-type publication that focuses on environmental affairs, from the basic environmental concepts to policy making. We are planning to publish journal-type copies for university students and comic-type copies for school students. So far, we have decided to cover the discussion points of the recent COP29 and the latest 79th UN General Assembly. We have planned that our first edition will be on 'Carbon Capture and Storage'. We decided on this topic because it addresses climate change and offers a solution. We already launched Sustainpedia on social platforms but we often overlook the things that are accessible to us. Hence, we are planning to host roadshows within our university, as well as local schools, and distribute the booklets to influence the audience. Our booklets will be informative but also simple to read. It will include short articles, along with figures, tables, illustrations etc. so people can understand just by looking at it. We have a team of students with active writing blogs and students with graphic designing skills. We are eager to make this project a success and create an impact on the student community.
