UNITED NATIONS ACADEMIC IMPACT AND MCN PROUDLY PRESENT MANOSWITA DAS SARMA, A MILLENNIUM FELLOW FOR THE CLASS OF 2025.
Christ (Deemed to be University) Central Campus | Bengaluru, India | Advancing SDG 1, SDG 5, SDG 6 & UNAI 3

" My love for awareness grew from realizing that much of the literature and media remain unheard because people often lack the resources to share them with the world. Being a Millennium Fellow will not only give me a platform to amplify these voices but also provide me with the tools to support them meaningfully. I want to be part of creating spaces where people feel seen, valued, and empowered to shape their own futures. Change begins with a citizen, and I am eager to be that catalyst. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Dharini
Project Dharini, derived from the Sanskrit word meaning 'connection with earth and nature' is a community initiative focused on improving the lives of women and children in the climate-vulnerable Sundarbans, the largest mangrove forest in the world. Rooted in the UN Sustainable Development Goals of Gender Equality (SDG 5) and Climate Action (SDG 13), the project aims to highlight how environmental crises disproportionately affect women and children. It works to improve access to clean water, menstrual hygiene, healthcare, and education while promoting sustainable livelihood practices. Through research, storytelling, and collaboration with professionals, Project Dharini seeks to build resilience, equity, and a future where both people and the planet can thrive together.
