" Hope and determination, rooted in my lived experiences, guide my commitment to social change. The Millennium Fellowship offers me the resources and global collaboration to transform that hope into action. With this opportunity, I can amplify my impact on women’s empowerment and children’s welfare, ensuring that my work is not only meaningful in my own society but also aligned with the broader vision of the SDGs. I am excited to learn from diverse fellows and expand the ways I can be useful to the world. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: SheThrives: Nutrition Can Heal
In this project, I organize gatherings at my university to discuss women’s health, focusing on myths about menstrual health and the importance of good nutrition. Targeting university students, the initiative has successfully increased awareness about menstrual health facts and educated participants on the benefits of eating well and maintaining a healthy diet.
About the Millennium Fellow
Durrab Khawar is a hardworking and resilient political science student at Government College University, Lahore. She was born into an educated family in a rural area but grew up surrounded by many underprivileged people, especially women, which shaped her deep commitment to advocating for equal rights, particularly for women and children in marginalized communities.
Her passion for social change led her to actively engage with both local and global organizations, working to uplift disadvantaged groups. During high school, she participated in numerous debates to raise her voice for women’s rights, and she is now pursuing a degree in political science with the aspiration to shape public policy so that rights become a guarantee rather than a privileged.
