We conducted an awareness session on menstrual health and hygiene for young girls from lower- and middle-income backgrounds, recognizing that this remains a pressing issue in India due to the widespread taboos and misconceptions surrounding it. The session began with a brief introduction to the biological aspects of the menstrual cycle, followed by discussions on adopting healthy and hygienic menstrual practices. We also emphasized the importance of biodegradability and the environmental impact of menstrual products. In conclusion, we engaged the participants in a dialogue on the social consequences, myths, and taboos associated with menstruation, encouraging open conversation and awareness to foster a more informed and inclusive perspective.
