" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because I am excited to see the impact our cohort can make on the local community. It is incredibly gratifying to see the tangible effects that our learning and creativity can contribute to. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Libraries With a Heart: Lawrence

Libraries With a Heart aims to provide library patrons with a blood pressure monitoring kit they can check out- just as they would a book. This reduces barriers in accessing and monitoring one's care by decreasing transportation to physicians, lowering the amount of pathways you would need to take for a referral, and ensuring a private and judgement-free manner of taking charge of your own health.

About the Millennium Fellow

Bhavya Gupta is a pre-med student at the University of Kansas. She was born in India, but has lived in Kansas her whole life. Bhavya has a passion for global health, medicine, and social justice and advocacy. These passions translated into Bhavya’s experiences at her university, where she regularly organizes programming to volunteer with underserved populations and immerse herself in global health advocacy. She plans to continue this leadership in the future as she plans on going to medical school.
