" My enthusiasm in serving people is my major driving force. Since my young age in primary school, I have always had this burning desire to serve people especially in the health sector just to let them smile again. I am honored to be part of the Millennium Fellowship which I believe I will be able to interact and work with like minded peers as we actualize our desires towards making the world a better place. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Sensitization on Prevalent Illnesses

We saw the need to implement this project after our church conducted a survey among the congregants on how educated they were when it came to matters health. We managed to be part of the team which was collecting data via questionnaires and it was shocking that only a few had little knowledge about the monster illnesses which faced the community every other time. Being a group of medical students, this project aligns exactly with our career and so we are at a better position if not the best, to ensure that we address these common diseases in the human race at this point in time. The prevalence of diseases like: tuberculosis, malaria, cholera, typhoid, diabetes and schistosomiasis just to mention but a few, is worrying! The community is in pitch darkness on matters public health, a crisis that ought to be solved before we hit another century.

The project aims to equip community members with knowledge on common diseases in order to prevent them before their occurrence. It targets all community members of any age. Through a medical camp, we were able to reach approximately 200+ community members and dispense the medical information they needed.
