" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow as it would provide me legitimacy and a ground to speak on for the ones who have the potential to help in attaining standard likelihood in Pakistan but are lacking opportunities due to system's negligence and lack of opportunities. I want to be the voice of women and children who are deprived of basic rights of development and self respect. I become voice of oppressed ones because I can see the potential of people around me that is wasted due to societal pressure and other issues faced by them in Pakistan. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Evergreen

Project Evergreen:
●Our first activity was a *plantation drive* where we collaborated with the Green Youth Club of NDU to plant trees and promote a greener environment.
●The second activity was an *awareness session* in underprivileged schools. In these sessions we educated students about climate change ,its causes, impacts, and the steps that can be taken to address it.
●The third activity was a *cleanup drive* during which we cleaned the environment and encouraged people to take responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean and avoiding pollution.
●In the fourth activity we focused *donations for flood victims* . While carrying out all our activities, we simultaneously collected donations and later provided to support to those affected.
To maximize impact, we also used social media platforms such as Instagram,Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok. Through these we raised awareness by posting pictures, posters and videos highlighting both our activities and ways people can contribute to combating climate change.

About the Millennium Fellow

Laiba Awan is a bright, intellectual and competitive student of International Relations in NDU. Throughout her life she has been really active against social injustices and has spoken for the rights of oppressed. She is really competitive individual and through her leadership qualities she makes sure to attain the desired goal and convert her words to impactful actions. She is really passionate to create social awareness against the misogynistic way of thinking that creates hurdles in development of all genders eventually leading to underdeveloped or less opportunistic society. By merging her leadership traits with opportunity provided by Millennium Fellowship, a productive change would emerge in Pakistani society as a Pakistani national would bring out even the minor reasons that are driving force behind the issues. So,UN's sustainable development program would be more beneficial in this area after those reasons behind issues would be addressed.
