" "As the coordinator of my residential hall during the historic student uprising that toppled a fascist regime, I stood at the frontlines of a movement fueled by the promise of justice, dignity, and a better future for the next generation. I continue this work because I believe basic human rights like food, health, and shelter should never be a privileged on campus. The Millennium Fellowship is a powerful opportunity to transform that promise into sustained, global action.” "

She Leads Nation Building is a women’s leadership and empowerment initiative founded by Anika Tahsina, a student of the University of Dhaka and Millennium Fellow. Inspired by the spirit of the July Uprising, the project envisions a Bangladesh where women lead with courage, integrity, and empathy shaping a more just and inclusive society.
The initiative focuses on three pillars: women’s leadership, human rights, and good governance. It aims to equip women students with the knowledge, confidence, and civic awareness to take active roles in politics, policymaking, and social transformation. Through leadership training, dialogue sessions, and community engagement, She Leads helps women become advocates of justice, accountability, and participatory democracy.
Practical Goals:
Develop women’s leadership capacity through mentorship and training.
Promote awareness of campus human rights and ensure basic rights and ethical governance.
Build alliances of young women leaders across campuses to drive social impact.
Aligned SDGs:
SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
