" My belief that no child should be denied healthcare because of financial barriers fuels my advocacy for child health equity. The Millennium Fellowship excites me because it is more than a platform . it is a community of innovators, mentors, and peers who will challenge and inspire me to think bigger. Through the Fellowship, I look forward to refining my leadership, learning how to design scalable solutions, and building global networks that will help me ensure that every child, regardless of their background, can access the care they need to live a healthy, hopeful life. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: ChildAidConnect

ChildAid Connect is a community-based program that seeks to assist children with financially strained families that spend long durations in hospitals. Such children may be subject to emotional stress, lack of social support, and access to resources that may enhance their recovery and general well-being.
Community advocacy walks and discussing their distinct needs with healthcare practitioners increase awareness about their distinct needs in the project. Through involvement of the general population and the medical fraternity, ChildAid connect strives to point out the loopholes of support and calls on shared accountability over child health equity.
Finally, the project aims to achieve its goals through the inspiration of community participation, compassionate care, and advocacy of the policies that guarantee that vulnerable hospitalized children get emotional, social, and financial support that they deserve.

About the Millennium Fellow

Ayoade Mercy is a fifth-year medical student at the University of Ibadan in Ibadan, Nigeria. Mercy is passionate about ensuring equal access to healthcare, particularly for children from low-income families. Much of her advocacy is shaped by her belief that no child should be denied quality care because of financial constraints. Through her work, she hopes to create a level playing field where every sick child can access the treatment they need. After she graduates, Mercy plans to further her training and continue advancing child health equity.
