" "The first thing I feel about being a Millennium Fellow is being given a rare opportunity to reach out to my world in promoting the sustainable goals and also learning how I can turn desires of impact into its reality. The essence of doing the work I do is to fulfill purpose and make this world comfortable for people and other living organisms to inhabit. I can't wait to see what being a Millennium Fellow has installed for me." "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Project X: Where Collaboration Meets Impact
Project X is a youth-led outreach initiative designed to empower adolescent boys with accurate knowledge, emotional intelligence, and healthy behaviour mindsets. As Millennium Fellows from the University of Ilorin, we identified a gap in conversations around mental health, gender equality, adolescent development, and male-inclusive health awareness; especially in secondary schools.
Through an interactive 3.5-hour session at Government Secondary School, Ilorin, we engaged over 200 male students using storytelling, scenario-based learning, live demonstrations, and open discussion. Our topics covered Mental Health Awareness, Gender Equality and Male Allyship, Breast Cancer Awareness (including the fact that men can also be affected), and Adolescent Boy Empowerment.
