" Empowering the marginalized and amplifying the unheard is not just a duty, but a privileged. As a Millennium Fellow, I am excited to be part of a global community that shares my passion for driving social change and fostering a more just and equitable world for the benefit of us all. I appreciate the opportunity for my views and passion will be fulfilled by advocating for the unheard cries and voices out there. This is a great opportunity to also enhance the projects that I have been working on with regards to social justice and refugees rights "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Unity Empowerment Project
This project focuses on the violation of the freedom from discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in Zambia, with particular attention to refugees and their mental health. The target audience includes the general public and law enforcement. As part of the project, I visited the Makeni refugee camp in Lusaka, Zambia, where many refugees, including LGBTI refugees who fled Uganda due to harsh laws such as the death penalty, are held. I engaged in meaningful discussions with them, which revealed widespread mental health challenges and depression. Due to limited financial resources and the long distance, I was unable to continue engaging with them as much as planned.
