Millennium Fellowship Project: Periodic Markers
Every girl child experiencing menstruation deserves a guide, a counselor and appropriate materials to lead her through the almost-everlasting life journey. When I was in secondary school, I noticed that I was rarely opened to menstrual programs and seminars which limited my understanding and made me take the toxicity from my environment about menstruation. In this sense, my project Period Markers aims as providing a manual guide for young girls in rural areas who barely have access to counselor or understanding of tracking their cycle. The Periodic Marker itself is a manual calendar I developed for young girls in the remote areas to assist them understand period monitoring and relevance of their periods, with contacts from menstrual health experts. It also involves boosting menstrual psychology for the girls. Through the features on the Periodic Marker enable the girls follow up on their period hygiene enhancing their reproductive health. While the Periodic Marker will be our permanent tool to assist the girls in the journey. I will spearhead the making of hygienic reusable sanitary pads that will enable the girls maintain their hygiene even in the time of the Periodic crisis.
