In the three months the application was open in 2018, students applied to join the Class of 2018 on 285 campuses across 57 nations. 30 campuses worldwide (just 11%) were selected to host the 530 Millennium Fellows in the global pilot this year.
The Class of 2018 is bold, innovative, and inclusive. Millennium Fellows' Projects are projected to positively impact the lives of over 310,000 people worldwide this year.
“I am ecstatic to be a part of the Millennium Fellowship program. Working on behalf of Global Education for All will allow make a difference. My motivation is working for all those who do not have access to the same type of resources and opportunities provided to many privileged American students. I believe that everyone deserves a world that is fair and compassionate, and to that end every UC Davis student should receive an education reflective of the diversity and multiculturalism of our world, so they’re prepared to work on major global challenges.”
Millennium Fellowship Project
The Campus Global Theme Initiative is part of a campus-wide commitment to provide every UC Davis student with a global education. Through the project, the team will launch a biennial program to engage the UC Davis community (students, faculty, staff and community partners) in creating a year of transdisciplinary projects, events, and performances that address a theme related to an SDG. From August to November 2018, the team wishes to initiate the effort by publicizing our initiative, inviting event/activity proposals for the 2019-2020 academic year, and creating a mini-grants program to support proposed programming. They will measure their impact by the number of project proposals they receive from student organizations and other units across campus. The Campus Global Theme Initiative plans to receive at least 60 proposals, representing every school and college, that reflect the campus’ diversity.
