J.P. Bilbrey retired from the Hershey Company as CEO in March of 2017 and as Chairman in May of 2018. The Hershey Company is the largest producer of chocolate in North America and a global leader in chocolate and confectionary products. Bilbrey has more than 38 years of consumer goods experience and has been instrumental in the growth of some of the world’s largest and best-known brands. He has worked in more than 50 Countries and living in North America, North Africa, Middle East and Asia. Bilbrey joined Hershey in 2003 as the President of the International business progressing thru executive roles before being named President NA in 2007, COO in 2010, CEO in 2011 and ending his career as Chairman, President and CEO.
He graduated from Kansas State University in 1978 holding a Bachelor’s of Science degree in psychology. He began his career with the Procter & Gamble Company as a sales representative. He served in positions of increasing responsibility in multiple disciplines in both the U.S. business and international operations during a 22 year period. Upon returning to the U.S. Bilbrey served as President and CEO, Danone Waters of North America, Inc., a division of Groupe Danone, Paris, France.
Bilbrey currently serves on the Board of Directors of Colgate Palmolive Company and Pella Corporation. He has served in multiple industry leadership roles, including White House appointments on the Trade Policy and Negotiation council, Doing Business in Africa and other advisory roles. He has been formally recognized for his industry leadership and continues to work in advisory roles including a passion for the application of advanced analytics in business.
