ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2018
United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. In the three months the application was open in 2018, students applied to join the Class of 2018 on 285 campuses across 57 nations. 30 campuses worldwide (just 11%) were selected to host the 530 Millennium Fellows in the global pilot this year.
The Class of 2018 is bold, innovative, and inclusive. Millennium Fellows' Projects are projected to positively impact the lives of over 310,000 people worldwide this year.

Millennium Fellowship Project
Decrease global warming through increased plant carbon dioxide uptake. The aim is to conduct a research on an enzyme responsible on the fixation of carbon dioxide into plants.
About the Millennium Fellow
Mugumya Hillary is a second year student at the Faculty of science offering a bachelor of science in Biotechnology, Makerere University Uganda. Since she was a child, Mugumya’s dream was to become a biologist. She loves chemistry and biology and physics too. She is also interested in microbiology and its various applications, She is able to work alone or as a part of a team. She is responsible, flexible and open-minded. Mugumya works hard and likes to learn new things.
Mugumya believes she can benefit by getting familiar with modern technologies, methods and knowledge of molecular biology since she is among the few pioneers of a degree in Biotechnology, this would help her become a better scientist in this field. Hence she will get the better chance to contribute her share to alleviate her country’s problems as a professional through conducting advanced researches on plant and animal to find different ways of alleviating her beloved country’s problems as a professional.
