Promoting Mental Health Awareness

Project Overview

Promoting Mental Health Awareness is a campus-based initiative that strengthens student well-being through education, outreach, and support services. The project raises awareness of the university counseling unit as a safe space for guidance on stress and mental health. It conducts workshops and seminars on resilience and stress management, promotes collaboration through resource donations, and partners with mental health NGOs for expert insights. The initiative also provides counseling and support sessions to help students manage academic and personal challenges effectively.

Project Impact

The project promoted mental health awareness and emotional well-being on campus by reaching over 300 students through seminars, awareness sessions, and safe spaces for open dialogue. Many students spoke about their mental health struggles for the first time, helping reduce stigma and encourage empathy among students and staff. The initiative also launched confidential helplines, improving access to private and anonymous support services. While the project made meaningful progress in breaking the silence around mental health, stigma and fear of judgment still prevent some students from seeking professional help. Strengthening peer advocacy, increasing continuous engagement, and normalizing counseling remain important areas for future growth and impact.
