" Millennium Fellowship is a once in a life opportunity. It's a chance for us, as students, to become a part of something bigger, it provides us a choice to work for the betterment of society on our terms. We as student have always been told to fall back in impactful work, never to lead. The Millennium Fellowship is one of the few programs which we will make us the spear's head, it is something which will challenge us to innovate for the greater good, it is something which will help us convene and celebrate with likeminded people. The experience we gain during our semester long fellowship, will pave a way for our future services to be more distinctive and will help prioritize our values much more. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: I=E^2+R

“If you are planning for year, sow rice; If you are planning for decade, plant trees; If you are planning for lifetime, educate people.” As per the 2011 Census, India’s literacy stands at 75% and that's quite sluggish when compared to other countries that got Independence in similar era. Odisha, a state in Eastern India had its rate below the national average and this is just a small part of the bigger picture. Future starts with the learning of alphabet; Such low literacy figures call for immediate action. Our project aims to help rural communities that host skilled and talented indigenous masses who are yet to see best of the world. And this starts with connecting people from remote parts via digital meetings with Panchayats and local leadership (and in-person when situations permit). Students in villages aren’t able to decide their field of study owing to lack of guidance. Few sessions every month will help them realize their inner potentials to march ahead for secured future through education. Another wing of our project will help deprived people to lead righteous life by eliminating issues of hunger, poverty and sanitation as Equality and Rights are equally essential along with Education.

About the Millennium Fellow

Devashish Daksha is a keen research oriented Chemical engineering student at Institute of Chemical technology Mumbai India Oil Odisha Campus. He has always been an insightful fellow trying to solve everyones' problems on the root level using his industrious attitude. Since childhood everyone has always reflected this by saying, “Why are you so focused on this petty thing, you can’t just do everything hard and fast and you will not be able to solve everything.” Despite all this he never loses his aim and has always been trying to become an achiever. And the best thing about him in doing so, he didn’t sacrificed his empathy, his humility and his duties to his parents, his grandparents, his friends, his school mates and definitely he didn’t lost his desire to help the society.
