" Everyone has a purpose in life and a unique talent to give to others. And when we blend this unique talent with service to others, we experience the ecstasy and exultation of our own spirit, which is the ultimate goal of all goals. As someone interested in service and aspiring to be a public servant, I see this Fellowship as the first step towards my pursuit. This calling, I believe, will have an impact within, which will help me serve the world around me. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Unleash
‘Unleash’, is a project undertaken under the Millennium Fellowship. It is led by Millennium Fellows Anna Antony, Gayathri Arvind and Mahalakshmi Manian. The initiative aims to help college students with writing as well as communication skills by creating an inclusive and non-judgemental community of learners. In places of higher education, the required level of writing and communication skills is high. Many, especially those who didn't primarily study in English at school or didn't have sufficient opportunities to develop these skills, face inhibitions and find it difficult to adapt to the new environment.
This project aims to build a student community where peers can help each other improve communication, presentation and writing skills that will help them in their quest to get better opportunities, jobs and will also boost their confidence. The project will have multiple sessions every week with creative learning activities that'll aid the learning process. The main aim of ‘Unleash’ is to provide a safe and inclusive space to students for developing their skills. We propose to enroll and engage student volunteers across departments to assist and further the initiative. At the end of the project, we hope to leave behind a strong, inclusive and self-supporting community, constituting students with renewed confidence in their own abilities to take on the world.
