" "Being mindful of the fact that you cannot give out what you do not have, I am very convinced that being part of this Millennium Fellowship will greatly enhance my skills in leadership, governance and policymaking.

The skills I shall gain from the Millennium Fellowship will make my social impact on schools and other communities in my country better organized, aptly tailored more aligned with the UNAI principles and SDGs.

I am truly grateful and ready to learn and improve more skills and competences through this Fellowship by envisioning new ways of learning, networking and communication "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Elections 4 All

Restoring the Student Government to its pivotal role in establishing an enabling environment for excellence in our schools.

And also, equipping more young people to actively participate in elections, governance and policymaking locally, nationally and internationally.

By training and actively engaging students, teachers, parents and the school administration to actively participate in their student government elections either as voters, candidates, electoral committee members or whistleblowers.

This student government constitutes class prefects (class delegates), school prefects and club leaders. They have a non-renewable 9-months mandate.

After the elections, these student leaders are trained in elections, governance and policymaking in order to diligently carryout their individual and collective duties.

This equips them with sufficient knowledge, skills and experience to confidently participate in local, national and international democracy and diplomacy.

About the Millennium Fellow

Cheh Valerie Tamukong is a Cameroonian, works with the Cameroon government as a teacher and currently doing his LLB in Public Law in the University of Buea.

Being motivated by experiences and challenges in his childhood due to the disgusting realities in his community, he founded a nonprofit organization in 2017 in Cameroon called REACH BACK.

REACH BACK promotes more young people in schools and other communities to actively participate in elections, governance, policymaking, youth empowerment, placement opportunities, culture, education and recreation.

In order to become more resourceful and well grounded in these areas, he enrolled in the University of Buea to read Public Law and intends moving to the law school upon graduation.

He believes young people are willing to bring positive change in their respective communities at their individual and/or collective levels but they lack an enabling environment to do so.

He is convinced that rather than only seeking for that ideal enabling environment, young people should establish one by actively participating in elections, governance and policymaking.
