Millennium Fellowship Project: BSF Blessings

There is always a lot of waste in our country because most of the population is impoverished. If not handled appropriately, these organic wastes may lead to environmental damage. BSF waste treatment is not very common in Bangladesh. However, several fish and poultry farms rely heavily on BSF larvae as their primary supply of protein. BSF is only utilized in Bangladesh as a source of protein for animals. It needs to be known that BSF can also revolutionize the way organic waste is managed. Additionally, it can help in the manufacture of organic fertilizer, soil conditioners, and biofuel. Bangladesh's Black Soldier Flies Research Center (BSFRCB) is currently attempting to raise awareness among the country's citizens.
To conduct the project first we had to do an intensive literature review because without it we won’t be able to determine if this work is novel or if anyone has done a project on this very topic before. If someone had done this same project then it won’t be able to impact the environment. The studying provided related papers on this topic which helped in making decisions on how to step by step conduct the project. The research for this project was done by visiting BSFRCB to collect data. The sample data are mainly collected using different ways such as surveys, observation, and interactive sessions with the people who are currently working in BSFRCB to develop a method to use this BSF in managing waste.
MCN chooses leaders who work with sustainable development-related projects that advance the SDGs in their Communities. As this BSF project and Our organization Eco- network work for waste management along with SDG 13 and 15 which are related to this project, we believe from the platform MCN we can get support. As Millennium Fellows, we need you to lead by example - with empathy, humility, and inclusion as guiding values. We can embrace global citizenship, building a strong global network to learn from and support each other and take our project to that position that we want for a long time for our Country’s betterment and the betterment of the world's Environment. That's why I am working on the project in mcn.
My team's core values are the environment and cleanliness, and we believe that implementing this project will help to raise public awareness of the benefits of black soldier flies, assess the current state of waste management using BSF, and solicit policymakers' attention to improve organic waste management policy,
as well as create a green and pollution-free environment, so that we can breed black soldier flies. The benefit of receiving feedback is the second thing I've learned. Therefore, whenever we have an idea, we should speak with as many friends as possible, especially those who will be our target market, to get their feedback on it, regardless of whether they like it or not, as this would be a crucial proof of concept test before we invest time and resources in our project. And finally, I would recommend understanding the norms and values of the people we are working with, as demonstrating compassion and empathy will foster a long-term relationship with them and establish trust, which is crucial for the future development of our project skills. I am gaining knowledge from MCN that can be utilized to my project.
