" "I am a curious individual, who performs their best when surrounded by equally passionate like-minded individuals. The Millennium Fellowship gives me the opprtunity to connect with them and allows us to create a positive environment for change, collaboration and support to bring about a better and relevant social impact.
The project arose from the fact that we do not recieve a complete education that prepares us for the real world even though we spend countless hours in formal education. I am passionate about making these topics, that have been continually overlooked by institutions and organisations for decades, accessible to all, especially the youth. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Edux
Fighting for the causes you believe in and figuring out how to bring about change is something that I have struggled at. I never seemed to make a big enough ipmact or find the right people to reach out, especially on the matters of sustainable development and a complete education. We've spent hours and hours, for many years trying to find information that we miss out on. How to make Scrambled Egg & Toast? How to life a healthy life? What is Mental Illness and how do we deal with? Am I Queer, why does that word strike a violent reaction in many? What is gender? How can I file my taxes? What is safe sex, where can I learn Queer-inclusive sex ed? What is a cheaper and healthier alternative for plastic? How to implement sustainable food packaging systems? etc are common questions among the youth and is almost never touched on by the people and institutions that should have taught us.
Through this project I aim to educate and spread awareness on the real world skills we miss out on even though we spend a ridiculous amount of time in schooling that fails to teach us them. Topics like Sex, Gender, Fitness and Mental Health, Personal Finances, Our Legal rights & responsibilities, Cooking to comfortably get by, Science-backed methods to learn etc, always need to be in conversation but they either fly under the radar, get ignored or overlooked by individuals and institutions. But they make our education truly complete and I want to provide this professional guidance to ppl that we wished we had when growing up.
I also wish to guide students in our community to find platforms & programmes like the Millenium Fellowship, Young Innovators Programme Kerala etc to build on their skills, Ideas & projects. Through this project, I also wish to connect them to and to collaborate with people and communities for clean up drives, workshops, to spread awareness and implement sustainable practices in Kochi, where I live.
