Millennium Fellowship Project: Dwandha - Conversations & Conflict

Our project is based on raising awareness about conflicts and the lives of people living in conflict zones in India. We want to highlight the contrast between the everyday life of an individual living in a conflict-prone territory with that of an individual living in a relatively peaceful state. Through this project, we aim to humanize conflicts and bring out the stories and difficulties of people living through such difficult circumstances. This will bring a variety of perspectives to the table and make people look at conflicts beyond the statistics of war.

Moreover, it will also help the cause of securing basic human rights for people of such regions. Raising awareness about oft-ignored things such as women’s personal hygiene in a conflict zone, the development, and growth of children in such an environment, is what we aim to do.

Our project furthers UN Sustainable Goal16 (peace, justice, and strong institutions). and UNAI Principle 7 (Peace and Conflict Resolution).

To achieve these ends we are using the following means:

Events/Discussions: Inventing researchers, academicians, activists to speak about the importance of conflict resolution, lives of people in conflict, different aspects of a conflict, information war, lives of marginalized groups of the society in conflict zones, the role of law in conflict zones, etc.
Social Media: Creating accounts under the name of our project on different social media platforms to put out bite-sized content in an easy-to-understand way that helps raise awareness on issues that concern us.
Email Campaigns: Writing informative emails to people about the work we are doing and sending out resources through which they can keep themselves informed.
Publishing articles/short stories/interviews: The conversations we will have through the course of our fellowship will enrichen our perspective. The knowledge that we amass, we would be sharing out in the form of write-ups that we will send out to different publications.
Interviews/Questionnaires: As we progress through our project we will identify key areas about our project that people must know about and therefore track awareness of these metrics through interviews/questionnaires. We would also interview people who can help us raise awareness and share these videos through our outreach campaign mechanisms.
