" For promoting justice and good life at a wider level, we need to connect and expand our network. As a UN Millennium Fellow, I will get the opportunity to utilize my skills, faculties and academic privileges to realize my aim and work towards social impact ventures which have a significant direct and indirect positive impact on my surroundings. It will help me in reforming perspectives, abolishing the monstrous discriminatory practices prevalent in our societies which deny an equal opportunity for all to grow and develop positively. This will in turn advance sustainability in thinking and practice. It will help me put my driving forces into efforts aimed at improving a greater number of lives by providing them the dignity that they deserve. When the humanity is doing a lot for me and the nature is providing me with resources without any discrimination, as a responsible person, I have to also do my part. I have to contribute to making lives better. I have to realize my birth as a human being. I have to do justice. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Meraki: For all
The educated and progressive classes of India still shy away from the mere fact that there is a need to be aware of one's sexual and reproductive health. This project aims to start a dialogue on a topic that is still considered taboo, even in the most metropolitan areas of India, namely, Sexual and Reproductive Health. The dialogue around this topic is not something new but we hope to bring in a new approach. Our main focus will be to present a legal perspective on these issues and raise awareness about the rights and provisions provided to people regarding Menstruation and menstrual leave, Sex education/Consent Contraceptives.
During the course of this project, we would be focusing on students across different law universities and informal women workers (housekeeping and maintenance staff) on our campus and familiarizing them with these concepts as well as their rights.
