" It has always been my dream to participate and be in part of such a great organization. I'm truly excited to be a part of Millennium Fellow because I personally feel I would be able to voice out my opinions. As I mentioned earlier in my biography, i had always been wanting to teach people who wanted to be educated but have insufficient resources especially on certain laws. Also I feel that everyone should know about laws. I wanted people to be able to stand up for themselves by using the laws they know in the right way. So I hope through this platoform I would be able to succeed in doing what I wanted to do. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Know Your Law

Our project titled ‘Know your Law’ aims to inculcate legal awareness among the students of our college. Based on SDG 16 ‘Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions’, the main emphasis of ‘Know your Law’ is to ensure that members of our community realize the full extent of our constitutional rights.

SDG 16:

‘Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels’

The Constitution of India was crafted with the citizens of India in mind. However, corruption and injustice runs rampant in the crevices of every nation’s functioning. Through this project, we wish to strive towards creating a society which grasps the scope of the laws that are available at our disposal. The project will be mainly focussing on laws and constitutional remedies that are of importance to the youth and the female community specifically. SDG 16 explicitly expresses its opposition to discriminatory laws and practices in institutions and our team will also work towards the goal of eradicating discrimination and marginalization at the grassroots level.

We hope that activities like seminars, competitions and discussion forums will facilitate the attainment of our vision. We also plan to discuss the law in relevance to contemporary issues and landmark historic cases. However, our aim is not to criticize any particular political party or community and we will always keep this in mind throughout the duration of our project.

Justice is one of the main pillars of a healthy society and, through our project, we aspire to create a positive ripple towards the wave of justice.

About the Millennium Fellow

Nishieetha is a hardworking and competitive English literature student. She has always aspired to pursue her career in this field. She has wanted to work in the publishing and editing field. Nishieetha wanted to help people who are in need for support and educate the ones who have insufficient resources and are interested in learning new stuff. Nishieetha has also been studying on the laws even though it's not her major because she feels it's necessary for one to defend themselves. Laws are very crucial for everyone to know and Nishieetha hopes that through this platform she would be able to do it.
