Millennium Fellowship Project: State of Mental Health Of Youth

INTRODUCTION

My name is Ugwu Charity Chinonso, a 3rd year Pharmacy student from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria.
My project is on Youth Mental Health, where I talked on creating mental health awareness among youths.

MY PROJECT DESCRIPTION
My project is in line with Sustainable Development Goal 3, which is Good Health and Well-being.
My goal for this project is to reach out to a minimum of 100 young people, educate them on the state of their mental health and empower them to appropriately manage issues such as mental stress and depression, in accordance to this year's theme -"Making Mental Health a Global priority".

In the course of my project execution, I was able to use skills learned from the fellowship with which I was able to make maximum impact.
Using the leadership skills gained from the fellowship, I was able to setup a community of young people, hire an exceptional speaker, and successfully supervise the meeting sessions.

Furthermore, I was able to get feedback from my target audience, which as I learnt from the fellowship, encouraged audience engagement and involvement, and, as well make me better equipped to understand where I stand in my performance and what I can do to improve.

Over 125 people attended the webinar, with 60% actively participating and 17% providing feedback. Due to the fact that school was not in session, just six students attended the seminar. Nonetheless, it was an intriguing session, and the presentation received great feedback from the audience.

Lastly, understanding I was working with youths helped me to design my project in such a way that would accomodate the peculiarities known among youths while also achieving my objective. This also would be my advice to other fellows, that they should always try to align their objectives with their target audience in mind.

Thank you Millennium Fellowship for this opportunity once again.
