" "Being a Millennium Fellow will give me the much needed exposure and complete shift towards always thinking in the line of advancing the UN sustainable development goals. Also, I believe the access to rich resources that this opportunity gives me, both human and material resources will take my passion for social impact to the next level and I'll identify more with UNAI ideals and SDGs. This is something that will certainly help me impact my community and even anywhere globally, wherever I'll be. I am hoping to learn new and/or better ways of envisioning and advocating for access to Quality Education. Needless to say, I'm also looking forward to networking with like minded young talents from around the world and exchanging ideas with them" "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Quality Education For All

Quality Education For All is a project based on my volunteering experience at an NGO called Aiducation International. Aiducation International Kenya offers scholarships to bright but needy high school students, effectively enabling them to pursue their high school education and farther their dreams in high schools of their choice. In Kenya we have different levels of public high schools, we have national schools, county and district schools. The Quality of education is not comparable in these schools as evidenced by the results in the final high school examination. Students in national schools perform way better. Most join universities and colleges and pursue their childhood dreams. Such is not the case in the lower tier schools. For one to qualify for a slot in a national school, they have do exceptionally well in their final primary examination, here is the catch however, they must also afford the expensive school fees there. The latter denies most children their rightful slots in those schools owing to the high poverty levels in the country. That is now where Aiducation comes in. After the kcpe results are out, we move around the country identifying deserving students who will miss their chance to join schools of their choice bec of poverty and we offer them full 4-year scholarships. In addition, Aiducation also offers mentorship to their scholars while still in school, and even after they're done with high school. My volunteering activity is based mainly around the mentorship, and when recruiting the students for scholarships. Something I've been doing for the past 4 years and still continuing.
