" “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we have been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”- Barack Obama.
Attending the Millennium Fellowship will help me gain skills especially on how to take charge of the problems identified in most of our African communities. The skills gained will help me drive social change and uplifting the lives of young girls through impacting their reproductive health and promoting their education. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Girls Up Foundation

The project entitled Girls Up Foundation sought to work with young vulnerable girls living in Imvepi Refugee community located in Arua district, Northern Uganda. The project activities included mobilizing and training these young vulnerable girls in making reusable sanitary pads with a goal of keeping them in school and free from menstrual stigma that shakes their self-esteem. Enlightening them on proper menstrual hygiene practices and reproductive health training with an aim of equipping them with knowledge about their bodies and menstrual periods to create a healthy mindset.

About the Millennium Fellow

Annitah Ainomugisha is a creative, academically talented Mastercard scholar at the United States International University-Africa (USIU-A). She was born in Uganda, resides in Kenya where she is currently attending her university education pursuing bachelors degree in Pharmacy. Hailing from a humble background, impacting the reproductive health of young African girls has always been her priority, it is based on this that in January 2019 after completing high school, she started off a girls club in her village back in Uganda, to skill vulnerable young girls to make reusable sanitary pads so as they stay in school.
Her greatest passion lies in being a good pharmacist; however, she strongly believes that pharmacy goes beyond dispensing drugs but also used as a tool in health education, outreaches, and trainings, an opportunity to see communities getting involved in her aspirations. She aspires to see communities that prioritize girl child education, free from substance abuse especially among the youth and bring forth her benefaction to the growth and evolution of United Nations’ sustainable goals.
