" "Make visible what without you, might perhaps never have been seen". I truly believe that if I want to bring a change I need to be a part of that change as well and Millennium Fellowship provides the much needed oppurtunity to do so. It provides a global platform where I showcase my ideas and thoughts to such a humongous crowd and lay stepping stone in the direction of my goals. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Lakshya
We aim at highlighting the need of the hour which is Quality Education. This isn't the first time that this topic has been shed light upon but we sincerely hope that this time we are the ones who can bring about a change in the norms of the society.
In this project, we plan to not only tackle the mainstream issue of lack of quality education but also aim to address the issue of lack of life skills and moral values. It has been rightly said that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body, thus our focus also lies on the health of the individual as well. So basically, our objective is the holistic development of an individual.
Since we ourselves our students our outreach in society is quite limited thus we have a quite practical plan of action rather than a hypothetical one, which includes the following ways:
1. In India there is a huge discrepancy in the economic status of people thus making education available to all difficult. So we plan to carry out this in a very organized manner as to make it accessible to all. We will do this by conducting educational sessions via both online and offline methods in rural as well as urban India. The timings will be completely flexible so as to suit everyone's schedule. Our target audience isn't limited only to children but in fact, anyone who is keen on developing their skills and learning something new.
2. We will be organizing awareness drives across schools and universities which will be open to the entire public. We will help people from all social classes recognize the vital role of school education. We plan to organize fundraisers for providing basic incentives so that the people will be willing to come up to us and also hold small-scale book donation drives where we'll source and distribute books not only related to their subject matter but further widen the horizon to any matter of interest, be it fictional novels, magazines, etc.
3. Since education isn't only limited to books we plan to help people inculcate life skills that have a huge application in the real life. we shall help them recognize the value of skill and real-life-based education through the means of conducting workshops related to different skills like sewing, culinary art, music, and dance and aid them to hone their skills and put their knowledge in various fields into use.
4. It is quite difficult for us college students to do all this by ourselves, so we plan to tie up with authentic NGOs who have been excelling in their fields and are in need of further aid in the field of education. Since their main work is related to these people they definitely are aware of their needs and challenges so we will basically be a way to mend these issues and help the society develop cohesively.
